Skin rejuvenation with Botulinum Toxin Type A (BOTOX® or Dysport®)

Expression and frown lines caused by overactive facial muscles can add years to your appearance. Botulinum Toxin Type A is a family of neurotoxins that blocks the nerve signals that cause muscles to contract. The toxin works directly where it is placed, and can thus be artistically used to alter facial expressions. Designed to treat lines on the forehead and around the eyes without surgical intervention, BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® injections are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments used today.

When administered via small injections between the eyebrows, BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® will block the chemicals that cause these facial muscles to contract and produce wrinkles, resulting in skin that is smooth and youthful. As these muscles relax, moderate to severe expression and frown lines become less noticeable, and fewer wrinkles are formed.

Thanks to his extensive experience in aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, Dr. Sati, MD, has a thorough, complex understanding of facial musculature. This knowledge allows him to know exactly where to administer injections in order to achieve effective and natural-looking results.

What you should know about BOTOX® Cosmetic/Dysport®):

  • Early treatment may help prevent expression and frown lines from forming
  • No anesthesia is required
  • This is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedure, and requires no recovery or downtime
  • Results from injections last up to three or four months
  • Botulinum Toxin Type A is also used for the treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating and migraines)

Skin rejuvenation with injectable fillers (JUVÉDERM®)

Lost volume is a natural part of the skin’s aging process, resulting in wrinkles and folds. On your face, the area most often affected by this loss of volume is the region between and around your nose and mouth, where visible creases appear. Injectable fillers are useful for patients who have deep lines or folds, but who do not want to undergo a surgical facelift procedure. Fillers are injected underneath the skin to “plump up” deep lines, restoring volume and even adding structure to the face. Depending on the type of filler used and the depth at which it is injected, you can use them to smooth out fine lines on the surface of the skin, fill deep lines (e.g. nasolabial folds), augment soft tissues (such as the lips), or even effectively augment facial bone structure.

What you should know about injectable fillers:

  • No anesthesia is required
  • No allergy testing is necessary prior to receiving fillers
  • Some minimal discomfort may be experienced during the injections
  • This is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedure, and requires no recovery or downtime
  • Results last 6 months up to two years, depending on the area filled and the viscosity of the filler used
